Resumen

La Conferencia de La Haya de 1930 fue el proyecto más ambicioso de la Sociedad de Naciones para promover la codificación del derecho internacional. Este artículo se acerca a los porqués de su aparente fracaso. En primer lugar, se abordan los avatares que rodearon su concepción. En segundo lugar, se da cuenta del devenir de la Conferencia, subrayando los problemas de definición procedimental del evento y los principales disensos entre los representantes. Por último, se hace balance de la disparidad en los debates del momento acerca de las fuentes, la naturaleza y los propósitos que debía representar el derecho internacional.
